There was a meeting devoted to preparations for the 5th International Economic Summit of Russia and OIC Countries KazanSummit 2013 in the government house of The Republic of Tatarstan yesterday.

In addition to the representatives of republican ministries, departments and institutions which are directly involved with the work of international summit, the delegate from the Council of the Federation Andrey Baklanov also took part in the meeting. 

During the meeting, Andrey Baklanov emphasized the importance of collaboration between Russia and Islamic countries noting that the Council of the Federation is willing to cooperate in this direction within KazanSummit. He told that about ten representatives of the Council of the Federation including The Deputy Chairman of the Council of the Federation Ilyas Umahanov plan to take part in KazanSummit 2013.

“We can see that International Economic Summit of Russia and OIC Countries – KazanSummit becomes more significant, groundbreaking and widely known event within Rassia and the whole world,” Andrey Baklanov said.     

These words are based on the participant statistics from 2009 to 2012. Over 250 guests came to Kazan for the first KazanSummit in 2009 and there were over 1000 government officials of Russia and foreign countries, businessmen and investment funds, leading media who took part in KazanSummit 2012.
