Baku, Finance Time. Bakcell, The First Mobile Operator and the Leading Mobile Internet Provider of Azerbaijan, is delighted to announce that it will be a telecommunication partner of the City Challenge GT in Baku on October 26-28, 2012. The main sporting event of the City Challenge Baku 2012 is an invitation race for GT cars to FIA GT3 regulations with two drivers per car, held under the banner of City Challenge GT. During the event a temporary race trackwill be installed around the impressive Azerbaijan Government House, near this aside boulevard and the Caspian Sea. Event program will include a street circuit around Government House in Baku.
The City Challenge Baku 2012 to be organized in an innovative format with standing starts, two sprint races (one for each driver) and one main race, with no driver categories or handicaps where the best team wins. Visitors of all age groups can enjoy a plenty of on- and off-track entertaining activities including the performances by a spectacular line-up of DJs, musicians and bands before and after the races within the City Challenge Baku 2012.
The event is aiming at turning the vision of cultural entertainment and motorsport forthe entire family into reality in other cities that can build bridges between people. The utmost attention will be given to safety for both competitors and spectators during the sporting event.
The City Challenge GT has a strong international presence inmany series and various national championships with a wealth of cars.
Before Baku a number of successful City Challenge events held in Bucharest and Budapest from 2007 till 2009. With its first racing event in 2007, City Challenge brought the FIA GT1, GT2, GT3 and Formula 3 British Championships to the Bucharest, Romania.
