Bakcell is keen to promote and boost the touristic potential of Azerbaijan and Baku especially as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility initiative. The partnership with Icheri Sheher State Historical Reserve aims at taking the touristic sightseeing experience to anotherlevel with support of mobile operators and up-to-date mobile handsets.

Icheri Sheher State Historical Reserve being a place rich of historical monuments and places of interest has developed a QR (Quick Response Code)code based guide to stroll through the ancient city of fire and get a whole new multimedia experience by scanning relevant QR codes by historical monuments and instantly obtaining rich media content on mobile handsets.

QR Code is the trademark for a type of matrix barcode (or two-dimensional code) The system has become popular due to its fast readability and large storage capacity compared to standard UPC barcodes. The code consists of black modules (square dots) arranged in a square pattern on a white background. The information encoded can be made up of four standardized kinds ("modes") of data (numeric, alphanumeric, byte/binary, Kanji), or through supported extensions, virtually any kind of data.

Bakcell welcomes collaboration with Icheri Sheher State Historical Reserve as a first step of non-conventional implementation of visual aids and guides and looks forward into expanding such projects to other historical places of different parts of Azerbaijan.
