Baku, Finance Time. Bakcell, The First Mobile Operator and the Leading Mobile Internet Provider of Azerbaijan, is
delighted to announce that it kicks off a new phase of the third joint project with the United Aid for Azerbaijan (UAFA) for disabled children started in March 2010. This project is going to be a continuation of the successful work sponsored by Bakcell during the last two years.
These disabled teenagers have very limited access to the social network as they are isolated at home and rarely go to school. As access to communication technologiesin Azerbaijan is increasing, the chances of young disabled people for networking, learning and getting hired are also growing.
In this framework, Bakcell and UAFA will organise computer courses at least for 15 young disabled people to develop their computer and internet skills. Reducing of stigma is only possible with the joint efforts of NGOs and disabled people. Using communication technologies ерун can play an active role in the society.
For the last two years UAFA’s Yasamal, Khachmaz, Ganja Сommunity based Rehabilitation Centers (CBRC) have been providing a stable support in their integrated community for disabled children who have difficulties to go to school or to find a job.
The proposed activities for children provided by UAFA’s local centers were based on their needs and interests. These activities included theatre, dance, painting, photography. In the first year of the project 171 disabled children benefited from the Ganja, Khachmaz, Yasamal Сommunitybased Rehabilitation Centers, while in the second year 185 disabled children have been provided with necessary help at the Centers.
