Baku, Finance Time. Bakcell, the First Mobile Operator and Leading Mobile Internet Provider of Azerbaijan held the meeting of Mobile Monday Azerbaijan (MoMo) jointly with Caspian Investment Center. The MoMo meeting was a bit unusual as it was held in the frame of World Youth Mobile Forum 2013, organized with support of The Ministry of Youth and Sport of Azerbaijan Republic.
The meeting gathered the community of professionals and amateurs of mobile industry of Azerbaijan and gave them all a chance to ask questions in “real-time” to experienced and professional mentors from Great Britain, Finland, Romania, India and Germany.
Mr.Richard Shearer, Bakcell CEO who also participated at the meeting made a presentation about development of mobile communications and announced the winners of the competition for the best mobile application announced by Bakcell in October, 2012 in the frame of Mobile Monday.
Speaking on evolution of both of mobile devices and customer usage Mr.Richard Shearer mentioned the following: “We live in a time of a rapid innovation. Communications devices are evolving at an incredible pace and product lifecycles are getting shorter. Mobile Internet has already overtaken fixed in Azerbaijan and will grow exponentially. Bakcell’s Sür@ Mobile Internet service launched in November of 2011 is driving market development. Smartphones are fastest growing category among mobile devices. They are a platform for new services and new work practices. Researches show that customers use Mobile Internet for more than email and news. So, all of these become an important part of our life. Bakcell is s always pleased to support the projects aimed at training and skills development of Azerbaijani youth in the field of information technologies. We are very pleased that such a large number of young mobile application developers expressed their interests in this competition”.
The winners of the competition for the best local mobile application organized by Bakcell are:
§ 1st place: Shaig Muradov and his team for “Kinotap” application. Prize: 5.000 AZN in cash from Bakcell
§ 2nd place: Farkhad Alekperov and his team for “Aztagram” application. Prize: 500 AZN in cash and and 3G Sur@t Data Kart with 3 month of free internet.
§ 3rd place: Agshin Khalikov and his team for “Baku ATM” application. Prize: 300 AZN in cash and 3G Sur@t Data Kart with 3 month of free internet
