Baku, Finance Time.  Bakcell, The First Mobile Operator and The Leading Mobile Internet Provider of Azerbaijan, is pleased to announce that the charity auction organized by the Company within the partnership with Manchester United was extremely successful. 23,000 AZN raised through the auction will be donated to support UNICEF work on promoting rights of children with disabilities.

The auction has been organized on May 3, at the Gala dinner devoted to Baku visit of Manchester United’s legendary forward Dwight Yorke.

“Bakcell has an extensive CSR program supporting children in need and young people. We are collaborating with several organizations working with children within both CSR and charity projects. It is a great benefit that one of our biggest partners - Manchester United also supports children and they have long term cooperation with UNICEF. We are pleased to start cooperation with UNICEF within the Bakcell and Manchester United partnership”, says Mr. Richard Shearer, Bakcell CEO.

Manchester United has been working with UNICEF since 1999 through the “United for UNICEF” partnership. The club has risen over £2.5 million for UNICEF programs, which has benefited more than 2.2 million children worldwide.

“UNICEF Azerbaijan is very enthusiastic to use these funds to contribute to our work on promoting rights of children with disabilities in Azerbaijan, including transformation of the education system into being fully inclusive where all children can study together regardless any difficulties or impairment they have and changing attitudes towards children with disabilities.

Manchester United’s players’ signed jerseys, boots, numbered shirts, biographies, EPL balls, multi-signed Illustrated history of Manchester United as well as Dwight York signed personalized shirt have been put up to the auction.
