Baku, Finance Time. Bakcell, the First Mobile Operator and The Leading Mobile Internet Provider of Azerbaijan, continues to make investment in its network to provide the best network experience for its customers. In cooperation with Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider, Bakcell started modernization of the whole transmission network, to extend capacity and migrate to the MPLS-TP technology using Huawei OSN series equipment.
“Following of 3G launch in 2011 and reaching 3G base stations up to 1000 by the end of 2012, only data traffic at Bakcell’s network increased more than 8 times. Bakcell’s network is a hybrid network that hosting modern IP Transport technologies together with classical TDM/ATM. In order to handle huge 3G IP traffic, deliver high service quality and high throughput to our customers we started modernization of the network. These new technologies provide Bakcell customers with the highest quality mobile communication and internet speed. And it makes Bakcell Network the most advanced in the Azerbaijani market and indicates that our network systems are ready for any future technology deployment as LTE and LTE Advanced” says Yigit Berktash, Chief Technology Officer of Bakcell.
Today, Bakcell Transmission Network core ring capacity reached 40 Gbps (in regional centers) while all edge routers (in administrative region centers) capacity reached 15 Gbps. All the important transmission routes have 1+1 chassis level protection and full redundancy. The 2G service and 3G service is transported in one transport network very safely every second with using various time proved protection algorithms such like APS, MSP, SNCP and etc.
Bakcell continue to evolve transmission network to a completely new level deploying around 400 hybrids high capacity microwaves links with Huawei in 2013. With this end to end network solution from Huawei, Bakcell aims to deliver best network and service quality to its customers.
